Roger King- Acoustic Set

If you dig the The Pine as much as I do, then you will definitely enjoy this. Two tracks ripped from a youtube video of his solo performance.

Excitebike- Beak Scoop Bulge Stretch Slice Add Subtract

This is the only CD that the short lived band from Virginia put out. It's 5 tracks and each are very dynamic and unique. The vocals are what I like the best about them, sometimes its both Nathan and Will singing or one screams. Something else that I thought was neat was that one of the drummers is in Gregor Samsa. I love that band too and should definitely post them on here sometime in the future. Anyway, Excitebike has released this album on a CD via Handstand Records that I bought just the other week, 8$ ppd. Check these guys out and enjoy.

GIANT- Song

I'm proud to say, GIANT is a  doom metal band, hailing from North Carolina with two releases so far and another recording due out in the new future. I've seen these guys twice (so far) and each time I find myself amazed how heavy and mind-blowing a performance they can give. By listening to this record, you can definitely tell what I mean although the tempo is generally pretty slow throughout. The 5-track album is close to an hour long and contains songs that are about 7-15mins. But, there isn't a dull moment, the harsh dense chords with such heavy gaping vocals carries out to a smooth orchestrated section and then you'll get hit again with a fuckin wall of distorted chords and pounding rudiments with consistent cymbal crashes (they're using a timpani drum in the new tracks- how intense is that?). If you like what you hear, I urge you to buy the album from Southern Empire Records for only a couple bucks or their split with Tides.  It is definitely worth your money.

Knotwork- 7"

Knotwork, an emo band hailing from Pennsylvania did not last very long, but they put out a few very good, unique releases. This seven inch was recorded in the mid 90s and showed a good amount of maturity and  progression since the first demo they released that had more of a hardcore influence.
The first track I listened to, also the longest, was Distance. It opens with a free-flowing melody and then a few minutes later buckles down with wrenching heavy sixteen-note chords and a snare that sounds so dirty, but makes it fit. Add raw dual vocals and a tempo change and the song continues on. The other two tracks on this are charged just as good and I think you'll find that you won't be disappointed.

We Don't Like Romance

what can we do about this, this world that we live in? every day there is nothing but oppression and no one can give a shit anymore unless they want to be ostracized and be thrown the fuck away for lack of a better phrase. fortunately, there are still meaningful releases in our shit bent world, we can make music, listen to music, create it for the sheer purpose of just letting gentle vibrations of chaotic caustic sounds rush through our bodies and minds. you can build a wall and you can always tear it down. don't let the party die; just know that it won't die with you. did you ever get invited? are you still waiting for your invitation to live? then fuck it, fuck all, fuck the day you were born and fuck the day you thought you had to wait, fuck the day you grew up and threw up and grabbed the remote, fuck the shameful stance you use when standing in line to either attract attention or pretend you don't exist, fuck off but mainly fuck you. you never needed to wait for an invite, the party has a guest list and your name is on there, don't be scared. everyone's scared but you can't be because if you are then you give an excuse for everyone else to be scared and we don't want a world full of scared pussies? do we? what do we want? violence? sometimes. love? sometimes. but what do you want? be selfish and grab the last drink.

grab.

good luck with your blog michelle.
